Greek Meatballs (Keftedes)

Keftedes

Keftedes are traditional Greek meatballs, seasoned with fresh mint, oregano, and onions. They are traditionally served with tzatziki.

Ingredients

  • 500g mixed ground meat
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 2 garlic cloves, pressed
  • 2 tbsp fresh mint, chopped
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • Salt & pepper
  • Olive oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare mixture: Combine all ingredients except oil in a bowl. Knead well.

  2. Shape: Form small balls (about 3cm) with wet hands.

  3. Fry: Heat olive oil in a pan. Fry meatballs until golden brown on all sides, about 10-15 minutes.

  4. Serve: Serve hot with tzatziki, pita bread, and Greek salad.
